KATIE SWIMS TO ROCKABILL - AND BACK FOR MIKEY LEELOCAL swimmer, Katie Timmins, took on the momentous challenge of swimming out and back to Rockabill Lighthouse in memory of her best friend and partner of 11 years, Mikey Lee who lost his life to cancer in November 2024. All funds raised went to the RNLI.Katie wrote, “Mikey Lee, was diagnosed with cancer in April 2024. Testicular cancer, we were told, was one of the best types of cancer to get (if there is such a thing). He was given a 97% chance of survival and a high chance of a full cure. We thought 'this will be a rough summer and then we can get back to our lives'. He went through three months of treatment. It was tough but he took it like a champ and was doing incredibly well in his recovery. But cancer had other ideas. It came back fast and aggressive.
