GIRL FROM THE YEAR ABOVE feature in Peaky Blinders sound trackThere’s a strong Skerries flavour running through the soundtrack of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man in cinemas and on Netflix now, and local music fans have plenty to be proud of. Alongside globally acclaimed Fontaines DC, fronted by Skerries native Grian Chatten, another rising act with deep roots in the town has also made its mark: Girl In The Year Above.The band features three Skerries musicians – Nathan Coen and brothers David and Shane Kennedy. Though all now in London, they grew up in Skerries and went to school here and shared early music connections with Grian. The Kennedy brothers lived just a few houses away from the Chatten family, and all of them 'jammed' together in the Coen household over the years. Nathan is known in local circles also as son of Skerries musician Rob Coen of The Hipaclaptics.Currently on tour with The Kooks, Girl In The Year Above is rapidly building momentum, and their inclusion on the Peaky Blinders soundtrack marks a major milestone.
