Legend on the beachSoccer legend Chris Hughton came to Skerries this month to unveil a very special bench on Red Island, one designed to inspire hope, raise awareness around suicide and suicidal thoughts, and remind anyone struggling that they are not alone.Set along one of the town’s best-loved walking routes, the new bench is part of the Legend on the Bench initiative, a non-profit scheme which places benches in public spaces carrying details of helplines and support services. The idea is simple but powerful: to create a place where somebody can sit, pause, take a breath and, if needed, find information that could help them reach out.Legend on the Bench UK was founded by former Spurs great Micky Hazard, and the Dublin Spurs Supporters Club has played a key role in supporting and helping deliver the bench initiative in Ireland.
