Young Skerries actor Aoife Gaffney nominated for March 26 awardsSkerries actor, Aoife Gaffney (14) has been nominated for an acting award at the Fresh Film Awards 2026. The finals awards ceremony will be held in the Mansion House on March 26. The awards are for young filmmakers and actors. The nomination is for a short film Where Am I? by director Grace Gunn (19), and both Grace and Aoife have been nominated for the awards.Aoife is now in her second year in Skerries Community College. We first featured her on the cover of Skerries News in October 2024 when she appeared in the hit movie ‘Small things like these’ as Cillian Murphy’s daughter. Sadly on the day of the Irish premier of the film, when the family was getting ready to attend, Aoife’s Dad, Dave Gaffney, passed away suddenly.Aoife’s mum, Cathy, told Skerries News, “It’s just been so hard. It changes everything but we just have no choice but to keep going.”“For Aoife, after that, she just wanted to be getting back into enjoying the acting more than anything else. Since then she’s done the Flo Gas ad and a few other things. She has another one coming up in the Lighthouse this weekend.
