Viatel are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Network Development Team – working with other departments to provide the infrastructure to deliver services such as Voice, Wireless and Fibre Powered connectivity and new product development.
This is a key role within the business with a key focus on our VoIP infrastructure and services and the position will be one of a team responsible for the deployment and maintenance of the company’s Cirpack IP Telephony platforms, the voice communication architecture and its associated network connections and component hardware, as well as contributing to the wider responsibilities of the Network Development Team.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Network architecture, design and implementation across all Company activities and services, including customer networks.
Implementation of network and customer projects covering initial feasibility, design, test and rollout including interaction with vendors and internal resources
Customer and core network design projects on SIP based VoIP networks using Cirpack switches
Design and development of TDM and VoIP core infrastructure to provide high levels of resilience and availability
Build, operate and maintain the Viatel VoIP equipment, throughout Ireland and Europe
Provide an escalation for the Viatel NOC in support of both infrastructure and customer services
IP administration and liaising with Internet bodies and similar.
Company and customer network and infrastructure security – design, implementation, testing, reporting and maintenance.
Deployment and maintenance of hosting, broadband, and managed services infrastructure including servers, routers, switches, cabling, customer equipment, backup devices and similar components.
Administering, monitoring, and optimising networks, services, and servers.
Programming, and scripting as required to improve efficiency of area.
Reporting, planning, administration, analysis relating to network and service activities of the company as required.
Support the sales and pre-sales team in Customer VoIP and voice-related proposals.
Assist in the up skill of other people within the business preparing technical documentation
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
Candidates should ideally have min 4 years experience in an ISP, carrier, managed servicesprovider or system integrator environment with direct experience of customer focussed
support, alongside network equipment deployment and support.
Recent experience of core VoIP switch configuration, support and service provisioning is a must.
Experience in dealing with customers on a technical level for delivery of premium business services would be a significant advantage.
Candidate must have practical and hands-on understanding of Cisco Equipment (routers, switches and firewalls) with particular emphasis on management and provisioning of MPLS, Ethernet and DSL services.
