Swim Ireland is seeking two suitably qualified and experienced swimming coaches with a proven coaching and swimming development profile to assume the roles of Regional Pathway Development Coach within both Leinster and Munster/Connacht

The Regional Pathway Development Coach will be responsible to the National Performance Pathway Manager and together they will work collaboratively and in unison to lead and deliver a world-class Development Pathway programme within their area of geographical responsibility. They will operate according to the Swim Ireland 2017-2020 Performance Plan and the Swim Ireland High Performance Vision & Framework

With a similar role already existent in the Ulster Region, the goal of the two positions are to oversee and ensure the best possible Development Pathway delivery and coaching within Club programmes within the Region/s by working in conjunction with Clubs, coaches and volunteers to ensure that opportunities and experiences for athletes exist for them to progress, thrive and reach their full potential

The Regional Pathway Development Coach will have a roving role. Working from a ‘hot desk’ in the University of Limerick or Sport HQ Blanchardstown, the Coach will agree a fully budgeted work plan with the National Performance Pathway Manager in terms of Club and coach visits within the Region/s. The plan will consider how to have maximum impact on Clubs and coaches working at Development Pathway level and will not include Clubs or Coaches which/who fall directly under the remit of the National Performance Director or the National Performance Pathway Manager. Maximising time spent travelling to particular parts of the Region/s will be key in ensuring that leadership, guidance, advice and mentoring initiatives are as widely disseminated as possible.

Applicants must display:

 Knowledge and experience in the development, organisation, implementation and coordination of high performing Club programmes at Development level and the development of athletes through appropriate coaching standards and expectations to ensure that all individuals within the Region/s are given the opportunity to maximise their potential, including an understanding of swimming specific Long Term Athlete Development models

 Excellent communication skills, including the mentoring, managing and enabling Club swimming coaches, volunteers and other key partners

 The building and maintaining of strong relationships with Clubs, coaches, athletes, athlete families, schools and partner service providers to continually encourage the ‘team around the athlete’ to progress them towards the next level of their individual development

 The development of the National Programme as a whole to ensure the continued success of competitive swimming within Swim Ireland
